This Savage manufactured early variation serrated steel butt plate with the oval "Indian Head" logo is for the early model sporter 22 bolt action rimfire rifle and has a slight curvature overall. The butt plate exhibits a brownish gray patina possibly with some spots of rust. (file photo)
